One of our most coveted creations is our collection of silk Ikat clutches and woven tote bags. Inspired by the centuries-old weaving technique, these bags are a true celebration of craftsmanship and tradition—and they let you show your true colors with the vibrant options on offer. Legend has it that the stunning range of colors and mesmerizing overlap of patterns found in Ikat fabrics were inspired by a heavenly rainbow reflected in a pond's mirror. Struck by this wondrous beauty, a weaver carried the image back to his workshop, transposed it onto his silks, and created a fabulous splash of color—and that’s exactly what we’ve gone and done at Emerrie.

The weaving process

Accessories don't just become part of our brand without a good reason. Beyond their undeniable Turkish charm, each accessory represents a deeper purpose, showing our

commitment to craftsmanship and cultural significance.They're not just items; they're a testament to our creative journey and the depth of our commitment to quality and heritage. The weaving process itself is a true labor of love, requiring skill, patience, and attention to detail. Each thread is carefully aligned and woven by hand, with the weaver in Turkey perfectly adjusting the tension to create the desired pattern. The result is a fabric that is as beautiful as it is unique, with each piece bearing the unmistakable mark of the artisan who created it.

Considerable time and effort go into producing a roll of Ikat fabric, with each stage being extremely labor-intensive. Firstly, silk threads must be obtained from silkworm cocoons, and then wound onto special looms. The threads are then separated into fine strands, and then the chizmakash artist can draw the lengthway pattern. After this, sections of the threads are tightly bound or 'reserved' so that the dye does not penetrate these sections, leaving them free for other color schemes. The threads are then dyed, and a specialized master sorts the threads for the fabric and prepares them for the loom. Finally, the fabric is finished with egg white, and another breathtaking Ikat silk is born.

Uzbekistan's recent independence has sparked a renaissance in silk weaving, breathing new life into the ancient art of crafting Ikat fabrics. Masters in the Ferghana Valley embarked on a noble mission—to revive the rich traditions of Uzbek Ikat fabrics. Today, their triumph is evident as we revel in the rediscovered colors and beauty they've unearthed. Lost techniques, ancient dye recipes, and intricate designs have been resurrected, blending seamlessly with the innate talents of local artisans.

Hand-woven silks once again grace the workshops, where over a thousand craftsmen and women pour their hearts into this labor of love. Generations of skilled masters, with their refined taste and unbroken lineage, have ensured that Uzbek silks proudly adorn luxurious shopping hubs worldwide.
